Why has Baseball Saskatoon decided to move to a city-wide format for the Bantam AAA division?
This new format for Bantam AAA baseball in Saskatoon has been discussed and reviewed many times in the last few years. The main reason is to allow equal competition throughout the city and an opportunity for development of the elite players in this age group. This follows the formation of a city-wide Bantam AAA division format in Regina. This new league will allow Saskatoon to compete a higher level within Saskatchewan and beyond.
Why are there only three Saskatoon teams in the league?
In the past few years, Baseball Saskatchewan has determined that there is only enough caliber in the Saskatoon area to warrant three teams. This resulted in one of the teams being bumped down each year to play in the Bantam AA Provincial Championships. This has meant that we have elite players playing a level below where they should be. These AAA teams have in some cases won the AA Provincials, leaving the AA teams upset that they were allowed to play in their Championships.
Will the number of Saskatoon teams be re-evaluated?
The league will re-evaluate the number of teams each year as the sport continues to grow.
I wanted to confirm that overage females are eligible to register for the Bantam AAA Baseball League.
